Every week, usually Sunday morning, you'll get an update from me for the week. If there is someone else that should receive this weekly email or you do not want to get a weekly email, please let me know so that I can adjust the email list.  I enjoyed getting to know your children on Thursday. From what I've heard, they had a pretty good day on Friday with the sub. College schedules never line up with my schedule! My daughter had to be in Logan by noon on Friday, so I had to miss the 2nd day. We'll continue to get to know each other this week! We will start our math rotations on Monday. We did a preassessment on Thursday and will use the data from the end of the year as well to do the initial placement. Groups are pretty flexible at the beginning since we can't really test pacing preferences without working with students. In writing, students will start their first essay, writing about themselves using the objects from their "Me Bags." Students will be doing some one-on-one reading conferences with me so that I can get reading groups going at the end of the month. While I am assessing students will be reading a novel of their choice. Our science/social studies unit for the next four weeks is Civics with me. Every four weeks students will rotate to a different 6th-grade teacher for a science or social studies unit. That way they will get a little experience switching classes and working with other students to help prepare them for middle school.
