Classroom Policies

In our class, we celebrate each child's special day. Students will get a small present from me, and each student will get to select what song they would like to have sung in honor of their day. I’m excited for each child to be the center of attention on his/her birthday! Birthdays that occur over break will either be celebrated the week before or after their special day (depending on which is closer) and summer birthdays will be celebrated on the child's 1/2 birthday.

Please do not send in treats; this is against school policy, as we are trying to promote healthy celebrations, and it would not be fair for the students who follow this policy or have food allergies.

Our classroom newsletter is sent out every week. This keeps you updated on what we are working on in class, and any special events coming up. Since we differentiate for math groups, and I may not have my homeroom students, math updates are sent in a separate weekly newsletter.

If you need to get in touch with me for any reason, please email me at Please keep in mind that I am not able to check email when I am with students. If you need to get an immediate message to me or to your child, please contact the school office, 303-387-8200.

Students often begin to experiment with writing in ink at this age. As they are learning to write in pen, mistakes are often made. If your child would like to write in pen, it must be erasable and blue or black ink only for classroom assignments. Other colored pens should be reserved for note-taking or corrections only.

Snacks & Water:
Students are more than welcome to bring a healthy snack to eat during our recess. They'll bring it outside with them, so a disposable container may be helpful for your child. Students may also bring a water bottle to school each day. Water is the only drink students will be allowed in the classroom. This helps to prevent messy spills and keeps students hydrated.
