Math:
Students working toward their fact fluency should practice Reflex 4 times a week. They will need to practice long enough to get a green light. Students who have achieved 100% fact fluency should continue to practice 2 days a week to maintain their skills. Accurate, fluent recall of facts allows students to focus on new skills and content during math rather than basic computation. If your child is not able to complete the computer practice on Reflex, let me know and I will be happy to send a paper/pencil alternative.


Have you noticed your child takes longer to get to their green light on some days? Practice on Reflex is based on achieving a fluent speed. The more focused a child is, the more quickly a green light is achieved. 

Reading:
Each student should be reading for 20 minutes each night. 

Word Study:
Students take weekly word study quizzes. Words are generally sent home the Friday before the test so that each student has a full week to practice. Students should practice sorting their words based on the patterns being studied for the week, as well as practicing the spelling of their words. Spelling City is one option for spelling practice. No login is required. Students have access to their word lists each week.
