Dear Prairie Crossing Parents and Families,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I am beyond excited to be teaching your children. I have been busy planning an eventful year and will be working closely with the fifth grade team to provide many learning opportunities for your students.

As you probably know, I was new to Prairie Crossing during the 2017-2018 school year and you might be wondering about my experience and history. I moved to Colorado in the summer of 2016 and spent one year as a substitute teacher in Douglas County. Prior to moving, I lived and worked in Henderson, Nevada. I earned my B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Grand Canyon University. I began my career as a fifth grade teacher and I am happy to be returning to that age group; however, I have taught all grades from 2nd-8th in a career that spans 25 years. I have a blended family of five children, three in college all over the United States and two who attend school in Douglas County. We enjoy camping and hiking together, and of course we stay busy with the comings and goings of teenagers!

Finally, I believe students grow and learn the most when teachers, students and parents work together, so please feel free to come to me at any time with questions or concerns. We can’t work cooperatively towards a solution, unless I know a problem exists. Often students share more of their feelings or concerns at home and knowing that information can only help me when working with your child. You can email me directly at tagill@dcsdk12.org and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Tracy Gill
