Michelle Werre

Ms. Werre

Hello! I am very excited to begin my first year at Prairie Crossing, and I am looking forward to working with and getting to know the PCE community.

This is my 20th year teaching. I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education, majoring in English Literature and minoring in Special Education. I began my teaching career in the Seattle area before working in Cherry Creek SD for ten years. Ready for a new experience in 2014, I taught overseas in the middle east in the Sultanate of Oman for two years before returning to CCSD and now DCSD! I have taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and Reading Recovery intervention. I hold a Master's degree in Literacy and am a National Board Certified teacher. A Denver transplant for fifteen years, I am originally from Seattle, Washington, and Reno, Nevada.

First grade is an important step in a child's life. Children will make tremendous leaps academically and socially. I feel fortunate to be a part of this special year and want to say thank you for trusting me with the education of your child. Know that I take this responsibility seriously.

This year will be full of successes and challenges. I strive to foster responsibility, self-esteem, and the love of learning in every student. The curriculum is rigorous, but fun! I support your child's success through a mix of whole group and small group instruction, guided and independent practice, and cooperative small groups. It will be a joy to watch my students overcome challenges this year and gain a sense of accomplishment and independence!

I am looking forward to working in partnership with you to make your child's first grade year memorable!
