Kaci Wilson

Hello My Name Is...

Kaci Wilson

This school year begins my 16th year of teaching. I began my teaching career in Mississippi where I taught English and Public Speaking in grades 9-12 for ten years then at the community college level for four years before finding my way to 6th grade at PCE. I received my B.A. and M.S. in Speech Communication from the University of Southern Mississippi. I also completed additional graduate work in English at William Carey University.

My husband and I have been happily married for fifteen years and have two sons, Brody (6th) and Logan (2nd). We have lived in Mississippi our entire lives until my husband’s job moved us to Colorado in August 2017. I found myself without a job for the first time since I was 15, so I talked with Mrs. Rotherham about becoming a substitute teacher. I am forever grateful for the phone call I received a few weeks into the school year with the offer to replace a 6th grade teacher who had resigned. I never knew I would love 6th grade so much! The PCE community has been so welcoming, encouraging, and helpful. When I’m not teaching, I am usually watching my boys play sports or exploring the beautiful state of Colorado. Sixth grade is an exciting year!  We have all kinds of fun and interesting things planned. Our class will read, read, read, and write, too. There will be math activities with a focus on problem solving in everyday situations. Science units will include systems of living things, earth science, physical science, and scientific inquiry. In social studies, we will focus on the western hemisphere, Mayas, Aztecs, and Incas, as well as global topics such as economics, geography, and civics. Of course the highlight of the year is the 3-day Outdoor Ed trip.
