Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday (unless there is no school on Friday). Students need to read 20 minutes every night and will have math homework as well. At times, there may be other assignments, such as finishing a written response or a social studies or science activity. Homework gives students a chance for practice and reinforce skills and strategies worked on in class.
Generally, it should take your child 45-60 minutes to complete their night's homework - this includes reading time. Assignments may take a little longer if a child is making up work from an absence or working on a project, such as preparing for a book talk. Assignments may be challenging, but should be doable in the time allotted and not be the cause of excess frustration. If you're child is struggling, please let me know what challenges or difficulties you are seeing on your end.
