We have a special transition process in place for our incoming Kindergarten students called Balanced Beginnings.  This is an optional opportunity to provide a “soft start” to school in which students can start the year more slowly.  Additionally, this process helps teachers and administrators create class lists that are balanced based on a variety of student needs.  Your child will spend 1 ½ hours prior to the first day of kindergarten with a small group of peers and a kindergarten teacher.  (Sign Up Link is below) He/she will be assessed in academics and play and screened in speech language.

This process can ease your child's transition into kindergarten and allows teachers and students to begin building positive relationships, introduce the new environments and routines, and collect informal data.

Below are Important Dates for PCE’s Balanced Beginnings and the Start Date for School:

  • August 8th - 9th: Reserve an Assessment Time - Use this Sign Up Genius link to sign up for a 1.5 hour assessment time - please sign up for ONE session only
  • August 10th: Teacher Reveal - Email sent to parents to reveal teacher assignment (Email will be sent in the afternoon)
  • August 10th: P.M. Kindergarten Kick Off - Drop in from 5:00 to 6:00 pm meet the teacher, visit classroom and drop off school supplies
  • August 11th: Kindergarten First full day of School  (Grades 1st thru 6th start on August 8th)

Additionally, please complete this questionnaire prior to assessment time to provide teachers and administration with more information about your child.  The information you provide could be helpful in placing your child in a classroom.

We have also attached some basic school information and Parent Resources for Balanced Beginnings.
