Welcome Back for the 2021-2022 School Year!

We are so excited to have the kids back in the building and start the school year off right!  

I wanted to send out a warm welcome to all of our students that are returning and all of our new students that will be joining us this year.  I know summer has flown by, but we are ready to get back to learning!

As we are preparing for the start of the year, I wanted to share some important information and dates with you.

Our 1st grade through 6th grade class lists are now finalized. 1st -6th grade Teachers will be sending out their Welcome Videos to parents on Monday, July 26th!  Please let the PCE office (303-387-8200) know if you did not receive your child's class placement video from their teacher. 

Please remember to complete the mandatory Express Check-In process for your students to start school.  We encourage our families to log into Express Check-In to update household information, sign important school and district forms, update health conditions, and manage school fees. Please note that the Express Check-in window for the Chaparral Feeder Schools( this includes PCE and Sierra Middle School) will open on JULY 30th.  We ask that you complete that process as soon as possible, as it helps ensure we have the most up to date information concerning your child/children. You will use this EngagED Parent Portal Link - to complete Express Check-In.  You will need your Parent Portal Log-in/Password to access Express Check-In. To learn more and get detailed instructions, visit

Upcoming important dates:


  • August 9th - 11th: Reserve an Assessment Time - Use this Sign Up Genius link to sign up for a 1.5 hour assessment time - please sign up for ONE session only
  • August 11th: Teacher Reveal - Email sent to parents to reveal teacher assignment (Will be sent to parents in the afternoon)
  • August 11th: P.M. Kindergarten Kick Off - Drop in from 5:00 to 6:00 pm meet the teacher, visit classroom and drop off school supplies
  • August 12th: Kindergarten First full day of School

1st through 6th Grades:

  • Monday, July 26th: Teacher Welcome videos will be revealed.  Please check your email Monday morning for this exciting news!
  • Friday, August 6th: Drop in from 3:00 to 4:00 pm to meet your teacher, visit classroom and drop off school supplies
  • Monday, August 9th: First Day of School for 1st-6th grades

Important Upcoming Schoolwide Dates:

  • Wednesday, August 25th: Back to School Night 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Monday, Sept. 6th: Labor Day- No School
  • Wednesday, Sept. 15th: Run with the Pack Fun Run 

We will still have some protocols in place for building entry:

  • All kindergarten and first grade students will enter through the main entrance (Door 1)

  • All 2nd grade will enter on the back side on the building by the playground ( Door 2)

  • All 6th grade students and 3rd grade (Faass/Williams) will enter Door 3 by the bus loop

  • Any students wishing to eat breakfast in the morning will line up at Door 4 next to the cafeteria.

  • All students that are in Mobile classrooms will line up outside their mobile doors.

The USDA has extended funded to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students 18 and under! For more information, please click HERE.

Express Checkin 


Opens July 30, 2021
Each year, Parents need to complete Express Check-In for each of their children enrolled in DCSD.   Please verify contact information, pay fees, and choose Media options.  Completing Express Check-In is mandatory for all Douglas County Families with Students in DCSD Schools. You will need your Parent Portal Login to access Express Check-In.  Please click HERE for the link to EngagED and Express Check-In.

 2021-2022 Registration/Enrollment

  • If your child(ren) will be new to PCE for Kindergarten thru 6th grade in 2021, please use the Registration packet found HERE to register for the 2021-2022 School Year. 
  • Children enrolling in Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year must turn 5 years old on or before October 1, 2021
  • Packets can be returned to the PCE Office.  Please return packet with ALL copies of documentation as requested on the cover sheet.  Please see summer office hours listed above.
  • Completed packets with documentation, can also be emailed to
  • If you are unable to print - they are also available for pick-up from the PCE office during the summer hours listed above.

Prairie Crossing Educational Alliance

PCEA is the Prairie Crossing parent association, similar to a PTA or PTO.  PCEA is comprised of parents, staff and community members who work together to enrich our students' experiences and to identify the needs of our school. Through fundraising we are able to provide supplemental supplies and resources as well as sponsor social activities. These resources will be directed toward educationally focused goals that address the needs of students, staff, parents, and community.
