Meet The Staff

The Prairie Crossing BASE Staff all come from various backgrounds and experiences.  Together, we create a unique environment with many ways to integrate our teachings and learnings into the lives of all of the students we come in contact with.  We are child-oriented and strive to connect in individual ways to help each child develop and grow their foundations.  We work as a whole to bring the best to your family each and every day!!

Sheri Hernandez: Sheri has been the PCE BASE Manager for the past 23 years since the school opened.  She loves kids and being a part of their education and development!   Sheri enjoys spending time with her two dogs (even though the puppy sometimes acts like a destructive dinosaur) and she loves hockey!

Dana Winslow:  Dana has been the Assistant BASE Manager for the past 22 years.  Dana enjoys being creative with the kids and teaching them new and fun things!  Dana loves spending time her boys and loves sports!

Lars:  Lars has been a Senior Program Leader for the past 13 years.  Lars also works for the IT department with DCSD.  Lars enjoys Star Wars and Marvel movies.  He loves spending time with his friends and family.

Charise:  Charise has been a Program Leader for 6 years.  She works in the front office also.  Charise loves spending time with her family and watching her daughter play sports.
 
Alexis is a Program Aide and joined our program July 2021.  She is a senior at Chaparral High School and plays tennis.
 
Ainsley is a Program Aide and joined PCE BASE in October 2021.  She loves playing volleyball and is a senior at Chaparral High School.

Emily is a Program Leader and joined PCE BASE in March 2022.  Emily attends college in Boston.  Emily enjoys reading and spending time with family.

Catalina is a Program Aide.  She joined PCE BASE in July 2022.  She is currently a Senior at Chaparral High School.  She enjoys dance and DECA.

Ciarra is a Program Aide and joined PCE BASE in July 2022. She is currently a Senior at Legend High School.  She enjoys playing volleyball.

Lila is a Program Aide at PCE BASE since March 2023.  She is currently a Junior at Chaparral and enjoys drama and ceramics.

Outside Agencies

Complaints regarding violations of Title VI, (race, national origin), Title IX (sex, gender), Section 504/ADA (handicap or disability), may be filed directly with the Office for Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Education, 1244 North Speer Blvd., Suite 310, Denver, CO 80204. Complaints regarding violations of Title VII (employment) and the ADEA (prohibiting age discrimination in employment) may be filed directly with the Federal Office of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 303 E. 17th Ave., Suite 510, Denver, CO 80202, or the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, 1560 Broadway, Suite 1050, Denver, CO 80202.

NOTICE OF DESTRUCTION OF SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS

Special Education records which have been collected by Douglas County School District related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of special education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for the period of five (5) years after special education services have ended for the student. Special education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, or completes his/her educational program at age 21, or moves from the district. This notification is to inform parents/guardians and former students of Douglas County School District's intent to destroy the special education records of students who exited special education services as of June 30, 2016. These records will be destroyed in accordance with state law unless the parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student notifies the school district otherwise. After five years, the records are no longer useful to the district, but may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for social security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc. The parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student may request a copy of the records by requesting the records at this link ( Douglas County School District Transcripts and Records Requests ).
